BC HIGH SCHOOL PROVINCIAL FINALS SECRETARY POSITION
BCHSRA is now accepting bids for the 2018 Senior Finals secretary. Please have bids in no later than May 23rd 2018 to firstname.lastname@example.org
Finals to be held in Merritt, BC June 1-3 2018
Duties may include but not limited to:
~Receiving monies and entry forms from qualifying contestants.
~Auditing each event of each go along with team members.
~Calculating and providing payout for each go to be presented as per itinerary.
~Completing paperwork issued from National office and submitting by deadline set by National office.
~Posting results and draws for each event of Senior finals.
~Delegating duties to qualified and approved volunteers if needed.
~Completing all National and Canadian documents immediately following completion of Finals results Sunday June 3rd with qualifying contestants.
~Working closely with the board of directors to ensure proper procedures and expectations are met

Quick note to you all just to say HI!
Finals planning is well underway for both Junior and Senior as well as the Canadian Finals that are in Merritt July 27, 28 and 29 – as always, looking for some helping hands
**For those who plan on going to Canadians and Nationals, all forms and monies must be paid immediately following the Provincial Finals – forms must be NOTORIZED and signed by BOTH PARENTS – you can get them prepared early by printing forms from BCHSRA.ca website and bringing to Provincials
NOTE- As soon as they are sent from National office, they will be up on website
**Junior finals – we are looking for a volunteer to be in charge of Thank you cards and the entirety of the job, purchasing/creating, getting signatures of recipient and sending to sponsor – email BC Secretary if able to do so please
**We are looking for Sponsors and volunteers for Canadians, if you would like to be involved please email email@example.com for further info or any questions.
**Booth space available if you would like to be a vendor at any of the finals held in BC this year, please inquire with firstname.lastname@example.org for further info.
**Our current Queen Coordinator, Bonny Mills, is looking for someone to take over the position going forward, she would be able to help you and guide you in any way needed – please get a hold of Bonny if you have any questions or would like to help out email@example.com

By now everyone is looking to get their calendars set and vacation days booked off as well as getting their ponies in shape for the upcoming season.
We have a few new dates that we are waiting for approval ationon, so please mark as Tentative until confirmed. A big date for us in BC is the Canadian Finals that are going to be held in Merritt this year! If you are interested in volunteering or know of a potential sponsor, please reach out to me for further info on how to become a part of the production.
So far this year, our wonderful National Director, Fritz Maier has attended the Mid-Winter Meeting in Jackson, Wyoming this past week of January – 22-27th. Not only is he the National Director for BC, but he also wears many other hats that you may not be aware of –Executive committee / Membership development / Co-Chair nominating committee / Co-Chair Safety committee / Youth Advisory committee / Rodeo Personnel committee / Co-Chair Livestock Inspection committee
As well as the Arena Director at the Senior Nationals in the Rough stock arena! Busy guy and all of this is VOLUNTEER, so next time you see this guy, please let him know how much we all appreciate him and everything he does for the sport!!
Due to unforeseen circumstances, unfortunately we had a director step down and we would like to send a big thank you and a tip of the hat to them for their term on the board of directors, we appreciate all that you guys have done over the years and are sad to see them go.
We have added 2 new Directors from the South region to the board for the remainder of the year- please welcome Dave Hamming and Tara Caverly! As always, you are welcome to reach out to any of the directors for any questions or concerns that you may have.
I would also like to thank Maryann Sampson for taking on the role of the GRAD SLIDESHOW – grads please send your pictures to email@example.com – this is a time-consuming job so please send in your pictures now!
Few new rules this year from the national board that can be found on the NHSRA.com website as well as the rule book are in regards to calf roping and chute dogging. The Calf roping rule was discussed at the first rodeos and the Chute dogging will be suggested at the first spring rodeos as it will be implemented at the Nationals and will be mandatory at each rodeo for the 2018/2019 season.

Any member who has raised a minimum of $1000 Sponsorship Funds by February 1, 2018 will receive a Cinch Shirt from the Directors’ Elite Team. Please use the Sponsorship Package from the official website www.bchsra.ca

If you have a friend that would like to join the BCHSRA for the Spring Rodeo Season, please encourage them to fill in forms and mail to Denise Swampy by the Middle of March . Memberships need to be received 2 weeks before Rodeo Entry Dates to be eligible.
COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP PACKAGE – DUE DATE OF MAY 15
For all Grade 12 students graduating and attending college in the next 2 years, print off the package and have ready to hand in by May 15. You have 2 years to use your scholarships at any college or trade school.
CANADIAN HIGH SCHOOL RODEO FINALS – HELD IN BC
The Canadian High School Rodeo Finals will be back in British Columbia for 2018. It will be held in Merritt, BC on July 27-29, 2018. To qualify Jrs. and Srs. will need to finish your BC Provincial Finals in the top 4-6 spots.
