WELCOME TO THE 2017/2018 SEASON:
Happy New Year everyone!!
By now everyone is looking to get their calendars set and vacation days booked off as well as getting their ponies in shape for the upcoming season.
We have a few new dates that we are waiting for approval on, so please mark as Tentative until confirmed. A big date for us in BC is the Canadian Finals that are going to be held in Merritt this year! If you are interested in volunteering or know of a potential sponsor, please reach out to me for further info on how to become a part of the production.
So far this year, our wonderful National Director, Fritz Maier has attended the Mid-Winter Meeting in Jackson, Wyoming this past week of January – 22-27th. Not only is he the National Director for BC, but he also wears many other hats that you may not be aware of –Executive committee / Membership development / Co-Chair nominating committee / Co-Chair Safety committee / Youth Advisory committee / Rodeo Personnel committee / Co-Chair Livestock Inspection committee
As well as the Arena Director at the Senior Nationals in the Rough stock arena! Busy guy and all of this is VOLUNTEER, so next time you see this guy, please let him know how much we all appreciate him and everything he does for the sport!!
Due to unforeseen circumstances, unfortunately we had a director step down and we would like to send a big thank you and a tip of the hat to them for their term on the board of directors, we appreciate all that you guys have done over the years and are sad to see them go.
We have added 2 new Directors from the South region to the board for the remainder of the year- please welcome Dave Hamming and Tara Caverly! As always, you are welcome to reach out to any of the directors for any questions or concerns that you may have.
I would also like to thank Maryann Sampson for taking on the role of the GRAD SLIDESHOW – grads please send your pictures to email@example.com – this is a time-consuming job so please send in your pictures now!
Few new rules this year from the national board that can be found on the NHSRA.com website as well as the rule book are in regards to calf roping and chute dogging. The Calf roping rule was discussed at the first rodeos and the Chute dogging will be suggested at the first spring rodeos as it will be implemented at the Nationals and will be mandatory at each rodeo for the 2018/2019 season.
